iPod Love, continued

IpodSo I've got well over a week of music downloaded to my iPod.  Pure heaven.  I would love comments on accessories and ways you are using your iPod.   Are you using  in the car, on trips, etc.?

I really want to spend some time getting into Podcasting.  My brother Terry has a good posting on this and I'm sure he will have comments for everyone.  Engaget also has a great posting that a lot of bloggers reference.

Also, what are the Playlists that you are using?

Here's what I've been using lately:
Driving Music - all the heavy, upbeat songs that help wash away the day
Heavy Mix - my very heavy, head banging stuff
Family Road Trip - dumping all of the great songs for the family to listen to on our next outing
Christmas - shouldn't be any questions about this one

The smart playlists is a great feature, but I haven't set anything up besides the 80's Music that was preloaded on iTunes.

I tested out my iTrip with my home stereo and it works great.  I've got a nice Marantz receiver with full surround in the living room and I'm very pleased with the quality of  broadcasting on the 87.9 frequency.

Would love your comments!

Nothing like putting me on the spot for a comment. :)

As we talked about a few days ago, the perfect addition for you is the Apple Airport Express. This is another increadible product from apple. The simple addition of "Airtunes" is worth the $129!

Podcasting- With all your pull in the susquehanna radio world I want to see a podcast from the Hardline and D&M. Again, this is a perfect fit. A subscription section on www.theticket.com for 10 bucks a month add content such as a planning meetings podcasts, thought of the week podcasts from Hammer, etc. Then, another perfect selling tool, sell advertisment in the podcast. Money for susquehanna nation! I will be wating for my commission check in the mail.

Fans want content, and if the value is there they will pay for it. Look at billoreilly.com, rushlimbaugh.com and many others.

Agree with you on specific content based on popular radio broadcasts/shows.

In fact, big artists should be doing this as well. For example, Van Halen could of included in the ticket price for this last/current tour a podcast subscription.

Behind the scenes interviews, listen to soundchecks, etc. Maybe the label will do this and then you could choose what artist you would want content.

Opportunities are endless.

Todd

Todd,

I meant to comment sooner...

I've stopped using playlists. I'm using the Shuffle feature and I love it. It is so cool because with as many songs as I have loaded, 5331, I get to enjoy stuff that I might not otherwise listen to by only listening to the songs on a playlist. I do skip from time to time, there have been times where I'll get into a hard rock groove and my iPod with throw in a classical tune or some odd Warren Zevon tune that I'm not into... but overall, I've really been enjoying 'Shuffle Songs'.

I do have some playlsts set up - very similar to yours:

Hard Rock - Ratt, Scorpions, Dokken, etc.
Heavy - Pantera, Overkill, Megadeath, etc.
Cool Tunes - Ours, Marvelous 3, Oasis, etc.
Great 80s - Gene Loves Jezebel, The Smiths, Cure, etc.
Pop - Destiny's Child, Pink, etc.
Laid Back - Al Greene, Marvin Gaye, Alicia Keys, etc.

And I made a playlist named Lisa, for my wife, with all the songs that she loves... but don't tell anyone, I don't want people thinking I'm nice or anything.

As for iPod stuff I've bought - I got an iSkin, but that is it. I'm looking at getting an Alpine Car Stereo with an iPod interface - check it out at http://www.alpine.com if you haven't seen it - VERY COOL. Oh, and you must check out this magazine:

http://playlistmag.com/ - warning, you'll go broke if you buy it! LOL!!! :-)

Enjoy!

Jon

Jon,

The more I use the iPod, I understand letting the "Shuffle" be my DJ. Its like taking a walk down memory lane as songs play I haven't heard in a decade or two play.

I've got an iSkin as well, but it does whip me that I have to take it off to play in the JBL speaker I bought.

Good thoughts on the specific playlists and the magazine!

Todd
