Tony Harzel writes in the Dallas Morning News on Sunday (12/5/04) that our nation's transportation budget is in dire straights and that Alaska's US Rep, Michael Young, wants to introduce legislature to have consumers pay by the mile to offset budget deficits.
He wants to do this by an electronic odometer in our cars...
Are you freakin' kidding me? What's more ridiculous? That the government could actually figure out a way to do this, or that an elected official thinks this is the way to fix the problem?
Don't even get me started on this. I live in Dallas and we have plenty of toll roads already, but why doesn't someone in Washington and our state Reps do their job with the budgets to figure this out?
What the heck are they doing with my/our current taxes that we are in dire straights? Such a joke.
