Lisa Haneberg

Todd, here's what I love about my Moleskine (pocket, block ruled for ultimate flexibility and efficiency):

You know the saying, "build it and they will come"? The Peter Principle which says we grow to the size of our pot? And the self-fulfilling prophecy? These all have a similar thread - that our expectations impact our actions and our actions impact results. And that how we set things up impacts how we do things.

Kind of the same for my Moleskine. I have it to record ideas, interesting thoughts, and questions I want to return to later. I do not currently use it for a datebook or to-do list (I'm not a to-do list kinda girl anyway).

BECAUSE I have this thing and I carry it with me, when I sit at a coffee shop and pull it out of my purse, I think better. Then I record the thoughts that intrique me.

Sure, I would still think and have ideas if I did not carry the Moleskine, but that fact that I do makes my ideas and thoughts better.

If I had a 99 cent wire bound, I might produce 99 cent thoughts. The Moleskine raises the bar on my thinking.

It's a great bargain if you can spend $9 to improve your ideas, don't you think?

Lisa,

Excellent point. It does make you "think" better. Why, don't know, but its an "ownership" issue. It becomes something you value, thus, use and take care of.

In fact, I now have a small one I keep on my nightstand. I've started to write down dreams (I don't really remember very many dreams...) and I use it as my weekend thought catcher/to do list.

Anything that is worthy after the weekend makes it into my main Moleskine. Does this sound repetitive? Maybe, but I was too nervous to cart around my other one to kids soccer/baseball/basketball game, the store, etc, due to the amount of work info I have in it.

I paid $15 for my larger one and I think $9 for the small one and its a huge bargain!

Todd
