I don't know Merlin personally, but after you spend some time reading his posts, checking out his About page and reviewing his other websites, you feel like you've known him a while.
I'm astounded by his creativity and his love of processes and improvement.
His Moleskine post alone has helped me in my day to day life and its why his blog is now a part of my Life and Career Thoughts section.
