What if your best employee quit today?
Won't happen to you, huh? Let's not get into why this would happen, or that you would of known (or should have known). Just imagine today you were handed a letter of resignation.
Do you have a backup plan? Do you have a list of other people waiting to replace your employee that could improve your team?
Catch people doing things right and thank them. Be honest. Be upfront. Develop people. Find out what makes them tick (I promise its not the same for each one of your employees). Remove obstacles. Ask a lot of questions. Get out of your office and into the pit with them.
