Expect more and more announcements like this from cities. Just imagine what you would be able to do if the city you lived in was one big WiFi hotspot!

I just read an article this morning that there is a telecom bill being debated that would include laws that would forbid cities from going WiFi. Existing cities that currently have it would be grandfathered in. The telecom lobbists are fighting hard for it to pass because they don't want to lose any market share or profit on broadband or DSL. These telecom companies charge way too much for their services anyway. Contact your representatives while they are in session now to not vote for this telecom legislation.

I've seen those as well. I know that the phone companies are not happy with the cities that are offering "free" wifi because the verizon's/comcast's of the world need to recoup investments.
I'm sure the politicians will be involved in this as well...
