I think I first met Greg through some link and comment exchanges from The Future of Podcasting feature.
Greg has a fantastic blog at The Trend Junkie that I urge you to subscribe to and read. Greg and I have never met face to face, but we have lots in common (humor, tech stuff and music!). Greg also has begun podcasting and shares great personal stories and his thoughts on being an entrepreneur.
I asked Greg to answer some questions so you could get a better understanding of him and his work and his answers are below. As an added benefit, Greg has saved a podcast that you can listen to as well, where he expands on these written answers!
Here's my "interview" of Greg, the Trend Junkie:
Business Thoughts: So, what's your story? What do you do for a living? Why did you get started in Blogging and Podcasting?
Trend Junkie: I am a serial entrepreneur, since graduating from college in 1996 I have started a concert promotion company, a food vending business, a web development company and most recently an Internet marketing company.
Currently, I am the co-founder of a growing online marketing company based in Baltimore, MD. I serve as the president and oversee the sales, marketing and business development side of things.
I have been blogging since 2002, mostly due to my enjoyment of writing. As I began to get more involved and engaged in the whole emergence of blogging over the years, I started writing about the
medium, and random other technology and marketing related subjects.
Podcasting is was just a natural extension, I can see a big future for the medium of podcasting, this is only the beginning.
BT: What was the "tipping point" to get you to start Podcasting?
TJ: I couldn't hold back any further :-) after listening to Curry's Daily Source Code and talking about the concept with several colleagues, it was time to start playing. I find it to be fun more than anything, and at the same time I am learning a ton and meeting some great people. I have an evolving format on my podcast, so I haven't locked myself into any theme or subject, I simply podcast to have fun, talk about things that interest me, while at the same time using my shows as a way to get new musicians and artists out there.
BT: Do you have any specific goals from the work you do Blogging and Podcasting?
TJ: I have kept podcasting and blogging very personal to date, however learning as much as I have and watching the profound effects it has had on businesses already I am planning to launch both a new weblog for my business as well as a new podcast focused on online marketing.
I am working on both right now. Trend Radio will remain a personal project for fun.
BT: What are your hobbies?
TJ: I love to travel, read, write, play music (I love guitar, drums, and electronic based music), watching live music, walking / hiking and podcasting!
BT: Finally, what do you want people to know about you? What are you most proud of? What do you love doing the most?
TJ: I am all about the entrepreneurial spirit and living your dream. I am a believer, and think that everyone should try to get over their own obstacles and work towards doing whatever it is they truly want to do. Most of the time I find that our mind is our only obstacle. I am most proud that I am able to wake up every day (almost every day :-)) and keep that outlook on the world. What I love to do the most is create. Literally the creative process in all forms, from creating business, music, events, podcasts, etc. That truly drives me.
Thanks Todd. I appreciate it!
