First of all, if you don't know what podcasting (Wikipedia definition) is, you better (read all about podcasting here).
Consumers want content on their own schedule, not someone else's (TV, radio, movies, etc.). I know, I know...not 100% of people in the world care about this, but enough do to cause plenty of problems/opportunities for current business models (see the Media Week/UK article link below).
If you are sick of hearing about podcasting, then get ready for vlogs (vcasting/videoblogging). Bottomline, video content via blogs. Fyi, Google knows all about vlogs and so does Apple.
Let me introduce you to a website that gets hundreds of thousands of views a day, that I'm pretty sure you haven't heard of...Rocketboom. They have a daily 3 minute video that focuses on the "news of the day".
Or think of it this way...customized TV just for your interests (plus tons of other applications/uses).
