Verizon has been heavily advertising and laying down fiber optic cable in my town. They just started trenching in my subdivision yesterday.
The issues I have had with Verizon DSL have been well documented (here and here) and I will be switching to the 15Mb pipe as soon as they are done. For $49 a month, with the first month free, this is the best thing going!
Anyone else have fiber at home?

Hi Todd,
Hope all is well. This page on your site actually came up when I was googling for FIOS info! I'm getting mine installed on 8/9, and am also going for the 15Mb pipe.

For reasons that are still not quite clear to me, I just changed from COX cable to Verizon FIOS in Northern Virginia. Fibre to Fibre. I was running at 5mb and still am. Casual observation is that the throughput may be faster with Cox. I find Verizon administration not quite up to COX yet. However, it is clear that it is their DSL admin; so you probably want notice a difference.
The cut my cable (COX) when they installed the system. I didn't realize that they had to put a giant box on my wall. All in all, I am not terribly impressed. However, if I forget about the fact that they cut the Cox Cable when they installed, and I forget about the fact that they put a sizable box on my wall, it runs as advertised.
