What a great race! I highly recommend this race if you are wanting to do an Olympic distance triathlon. The TinMan race is in Shreveport, Louisiana and put on by SportsSpectrum; the same guys that do the awesome River Cities triathlon in August.
Overall, it was a great day, but it was very muggy and hot. I was pleased with my overall race performance, despite the weather. I am pleased with the results for my first triathlon of the season.
Distances: 1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10k run
Swim time: 37:14
T1: 56 seconds
Bike: 1 hour, 13 minutes, 6 seconds (20.4 mph average)
T2: 53 seconds
Run: 52 minutes, 24 seconds (8:27 per mile average)
The swim is my weakest area, but I was ok with the time. Very pleased with my T1 and T2 times. I went with the shoes already clipped on to the bike and put them on as I was riding. I wore no socks for either the bike or run. This did cause me some blisters during the run, but it didn't slow me down. I will be wearing socks for the Buffalo Springs Half Ironman I have coming up at the end of the month though.
The run was tough due to the heat. There were plenty of runners that blew up because of the heat. There just hasn't been enough hot weather to train in to get most everyone ready for these race conditions.
This was my first race to use my electrolytes and I was very pleased with the outcome.
