Another very busy weekend. On the triathlon front, I spent some quality swim time on Saturday and had a 2 hour and 15 base building ride on Sunday.
Swimming is my weakest discipline and I more or less have learned how to "get through" the water vs. "glide effortlessly". A part of my H2F ("Headed to Florida") training includes some needed swim instruction. The main drills I'm working on focuses on my kick and balance in the water.
I tend to rotate too much due to poor arm position under the water and I need a better kick. All in all, I spent about an hour and a half in the pool on Saturday. Added bonus was running into Jim Lukanich and his wife at Starbucks, as I prepared for my Christmas shopping weekend.
Sunday's ride was a great ride through Las Colinas and surrounding areas with 3 other H2F'ers (as we will call them). We averaged just over 18 mph and what fun it is to just ride vs. hammer during the spring/summer months of training.
After the ride on Sunday I got 99% of my Christmas shopping done. I typically take a day or afternoon each year where I have my hit list of gifts and stores for my Christmas shopping. I really enjoy the time on my own getting gifts for Tara, friends and some people at work.
We also had 2 of Tara's brother's families over for dinner on Sunday. Awesome seeing Chris, Kary and their families. For as close as we all live, we just don't get together near as much as we should.
Also, Verizon finished the installation of the fiber optic Internet and phone connection on Saturday. You can read more here if you are interested.
